Programs

While I have several “tried and true” presentations, I am happy to adapt to the needs of your audience. Programs are 45 to 60 minutes long, including Q&A. Here are a few choices.

Fun with Math

  • Math Magic–Grades 1-3: Combining story-telling with engaging math games and facts, this program includes plenty of audience participation. For example, students join an interactive story about the Fibonacci Sequence, connect to a “line of probability,” and discover insider tips about what makes math fun. FREE educator’s guide included.
  • Making Math Delicious–Grades 4-5: Adapted to an older audience, this presentation provides hands-on fun for everyone. Tricky math concepts involving topics such as number theory, probability, and fractions are covered in this high-energy event. FREE educator’s guide included.

Making a Difference

  • Find Your Extreme Passion–Adapted to upper elementary, middle, or high school: Whether it’s playing the piano, baking a delicate dessert, or playing a sport, this presentation encourages audience members to push past fear and follow their dreams. Highlighting 15 diverse, modern women who smashed through fear, this presentation uses the example of adventure athletes and high-flying aviators and astronauts to share a message of hope and perseverance, no matter what your goal may be. Participants also learn what it takes to write a book.
  • Women Heroes–Middle and high school: Take a deep dive into our country’s history by discovering the incredible bravery and accomplishments of 14 diverse women who served in the U.S. Army from earliest times to today. Learn how, despite gender discrimination and unfair laws, women have been valuable contributors during every military engagement since the American Revolution.

Setting Up for Science

  • Taking a Bite out of Science–Grades 2-5: In this engaging, enlightening presentation, audience participation takes center stage. Students help determine properties of matter by joining a Moh’s Scale of Hardness line. They gauge relative size by comparing the tiniest and the largest things in our universe. Students have so much fun, they forget they’re learning! FREE educator’s guide included.

Other Options

  • Writer’s Workshop–all ages: This intensive is appropriate for a smaller audience of up to 25 members. After sharing my process, participants are encouraged to find their muse as they work through a highly engaging series of activities and fun! Fee negotiable.
  • Educator Training: Tailored to the needs of your school, this workshop gives educators specific, ready-to-go ideas for creating a high-energy, high-learning classroom. FREE take-aways and activities provided.

Fees

*Fees for in-person events are negotiable. All virtual programs are $150 for a 45-minute session, including Q & A session, and educator freebies sent ahead of time. Additional fees incurred if travel outside Washington D.C. area is necessary (I work to make this as reasonable as possible).
