Hi, I’m Ann!

I teach, mentor, and write books. Most of my books are about nonfiction topics like plants, aviation, space, extreme sports, cooking, and STEM. I grew up in a small, remote town in British Columbia, Canada, where I had the whole outside world to explore. I’ve been curious ever since. When I grew up, I became a teacher. I’ve taught in three countries and at three levels: elementary, high school, and post-secondary at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (a great place to sand-ski, by the way). I love to share my enthusiasm with young people and recently made writing my full-time work. Today I live in Virginia where I have a view of the woods from my desk. It’s a joy to write books, mentor, and connect to audiences.

Learning as a lifelong pursuit!
